I have had this camera system for a few years now. Two complaints: reading license plates is not as easy as some reviews I have read, I call B.S.. second: after a few years the speaker began to static when first turned on – I suspect this is because of the Texas heat coupled with the heat of the front facing unit.
That being said, it’s a pretty clear picture and video – both front and rear cameras. It does record sound in the cabin if you choose to turn on that feature. This system also shows speed. I am overall satisfied and despite the static when first turned on now, I would still give this set up a five star rating.
I have had these two cameras in four different vehicles that I have purchased. Pretty resilient wiring if you’re careful on install and removal.

The U1000 is a good quality camera. Installation was made easier with the purchase of the ODBII connecting cable. I got the one with the two ODBII connectors. This made the job much easier and cleaner. Took me about 2.5 hrs to install front and rear cameras but not thanks to the meagre instructions it came with. They were useless. Thanks to YouTube.
Operating instructions are not much clearer and you need to try different set ups. Once it is running it seems to be working well capturing good video. Time will tell bus so far so good.

The high quality footage and easy integration have helped me to love this product. I used the hard-wire setup that I purchased to hard wite it into the car so that it always remains charged. As such, I can’t speak to battery function of plugging it into the 12 v outlet in the car.
Mounting the camera was simple and the guide easy to follow.
The app used to connect to the camera works well.
The camera has a network you can connect to that will transmit information to the phone without the use of cables. I found that I would lose service when connected since I had wifi calling selected on my phone (my house had poor phone service). Once wi-fi calling was turned off, I no longer experienced this issue and could be connected to the camera and use my data. I believe that was more of an issue with my phone settings than anything else.
The camera continues to serve me well and exceed my expectations.
I recently had a problem with my hardwiring set up – not due to quality of the product but due to other reasons. ThinkWare quickly replaced the product and their customer service was excellent.

The camera is great. I have it installed on my Mustang GT premium performance pack that i rarely drive. Video quality is good in 4k but the 4k only shoots 30FPS so i use the 1440p mode for 60fps which is good enough ( should be 4k 60fps for the price imo) the real issue is the thinkware dashcam app that you have to download. It’s the epitome of hot dog water. Holy cow. The files get corrupted so easily on the app (when you pull the SD card the files are there fine the app just cant see them) the GPS NEVER worked so any of the cloud functions are just broken.
I am a software engineer, lmk if you need someone to help you build a functional app because your app is horrendous and you should honestly be ashamed.
Update 2024: camera has fully died doesn’t take power. Would not buy again
