   My sister’s BMW trapped her in BMW’s walled garden proprietary NBT system which was fine for when it was made, in the era before Carplay and Android Auto, but really it’s just such a relic of ancient stereo tech and so frustrating to be forced into BMW’s expensive updates, that I’m thrilled to have found this unit to add the Android/Apple functionality. It’s pretty easy to install – as simple as it shows in the video in the listing, and we had it done in maybe an hour, or a bit over since taking the dash apart in a BMW that’s older is a gingerly-done thing since I don’t want to crack anything, but it was fine and went in OK, and is plug-and-play. Car still controls stuff from steering controls and existing head unit controls and such but now my sister can navigate with Android Auto and have other apps going on it that are non-BMW proprietary and are FREE to her to use, so this is a great value upgrade. She loves it and i can see why.

   So, you have a less than stellar BMW interface and related controls but you’ve seen other people with much nicer infotainment units. Heck, even little econoboxes are running around with superior features these days. You can replace the whole unit with an aftermarket screen, etc. or you can use this device. This device uses your existing screen but adds all those nifty modern infotainment features to your car, while maintaining all of the factory features. It’s great for those that prefer an OEM appearance, while gaining some great entertainment features. It’s not very hard to install and seamlessly integrates.

   Für meinen 3er BMW war ich auf der Suche nach einem passenden Gadget um sowohl telefonieren, als auch navigieren zu können. Zugegeben, für den Einbau sollte man sich etwas mehr Zeit einplanen, wenn man es zuvor noch nie gemacht hat. Die mitgelieferte Anleitung ist hierbei auf jeden Fall nützlich. Wenn erst einmal alles installiert ist, läuft das Gerät ohne Probleme. Super finde ich, dass es weder Verzögerungen noch Unterbrechungen gibt. Beim Telefonieren hat meine keine Rückkopplung und auch die Navigation läuft einwandfrei. Das wertet das Auto auf jeden Fall auf. Die Verarbeitung ist gut, die Kabel lassen sich gut reinstecken und auch wieder einfach entfernen ohne zu haken. Man sollte sich trotz allem die Frage stellen ob man sich für recht viel Geld so etwas anschafft. Da ich vor habe meinen BMW noch einige Jahre zu behalten, hat sich die Investition für mich gelohnt.

   Das Carplay/Android Modul wird neutral verpackt geliefert. Dabei ist alles was man benötigt und auch eine Anleitung, die in Kombination mit dem Installation Video hier, eine Sache ist, die man nicht missen mag. Das ganze dauert schon eine Weile, aber wenn man es geschafft hat, gibt es ein Upgrade was man nicht mehr hergeben mag. Eigentlich auch nur zeitgemäß, was einem die toll Welt der Apps nun alles via Handy von Spotify, Telefonie und Google MapsApps etc. genießen lässt. Das hat zwar auch seinen stolzen Preis mit aktuell knapp 230€, hält aber funktionell was es verspricht und die Leistungsperformance ist einwandfrei, läuft sauber und ohne Störungen.

   I have the NBT system in my 2014 X5 and was excited to get an upgrade into this decade by adding wireless carplay. This system is plug and play, you just have to put it in line between the existing wiring and your factory head unit. Installation was pretty simple and I just tucked the little box up behind the dash using double sided tape

    This is perfect for my husband’s 2016 BMW x5! It is true to the add 100%. It perfectly fit like a glove with no issue.
