   I was able to get it to function (mostly) eventually, but it took entirely too long much time to do so. The instructions are mediocre at best and may be confusing for many that are less tech savvy. I’m not a fan at all of the UI or its functionality and I wasn’t able to get all the claimed compatible apps to mirror successfully.

   The Android Auto and wireless CarPlay adapter does its job, but it has some limitations. It struggles with aftermarket systems, which may cause issues during setup or operation. I initially had trouble getting it to connect to Android Auto, but after a few attempts and restarting my phone, it eventually worked correctly.

   The adapter essentially functions as an Android device, but it is somewhat slow, which can affect performance. If you’re using it with an OEM system or can manage the setup challenges, it can be a useful addition. However, if you have an aftermarket system or need a quicker response, you might find it lacking.

   The basic functions of this box are there and the directions are clear enough that you can get established pretty quickly. However, if you run into any issues you may find you’ll have to do a lot of research to try and resolve problems. There’s not much in terms of help out there. The manual is very basic and to help menus really don’t provide much substance. Once you’re up and going you may also find, like I did, that some menus don’t have a back button or arrow and the only way to access additional menus/apps is to unplug the box and plug it back in. Establishing the connection wasn’t difficult what I really found to be frustrating were some of the items mentioned above. It’s a good price for an adequate product but I wouldn’t expect a first-tier experience.

   This plugged into her car with some initial connection issues but we figured it out. Reason I gave 4 stars as instructions are vague if you have third party monitor installed. We use the TF slot for loaded movies to entertain on long trip.. I’m a bit confused at first as it states for Apple and Android but the box only said Android as well as instructions. It’s a good thing we were needing it for Android as no documentation said Apple only the description here on Dashcamera.us.com.

   I tried many of these wireless dongles in my quest to find one that would allow my wife’s Pixel 5 Android phone to apply Android Auto on her 2019 Toyota RAV4. Because the car only comes equipped with Apple CarPlay I needed a magic box that could bridge AA to CarPlay.

   Plenty of devices out there tout the ability to work with CarPlay and AA, but that’s only true if your car has the right operating system to match your phone — cross-pollination isn’t allowed.

   Fortunately, I didn’t give up, and the Smart AI Box actually does work. Now my wife has all the features of AA on her RAV4’s screen that’s only meant to accept an iPhone. She can play music and have full navigation at the same time. She can even sign into and play YouTube or other video services with her phone’s Internet connection, though I doubt I will teach her how. 🙂
