This head unit is a monster. The display is surprisingly good and the touchscreen is very responsive. This kit comes with damn near everything I could want in a head unit except for a vehicle specific steering wheel control adapter and an installation kit. It has wireless android auto which was enough for me, but this thing is a full blown android device too! It came with an easy to install dashcam, and a backup/ live rear view camera. It also came with the GPS antenna, Line output converters, and an external mic.

When I saw everything involved with installing this unit, I knew right away there was no way that I as going to do it myself or let my husband try to install it. He has a habit of installing at least one part of everything wrong so that it has to be redone or we suffer with an incorrectly installed thing — you name it: faucet, bookshelf, shower head. I have many many items that have something just a little off in the installation — like hot water is cold and cold is hot. Anyway, this thing is complicated. Don’t be a hero. We had our mechanic install it and it works like a charm. The touchscreen works great, Bluetooth works. Everything works as it should. No complaints!

I actually picked out this unit to replace a Kenwood I have installed in my Thunderbird. That one is getting long in the tooth and I’ve already repaired it once and can’t really do it a second time. This unit is the same screen size, but as a newer make and model, is sooooo much smaller behind the screen which equates to a lighter package in the mount on your dash and a lot more room for the wiring harness to reside. This was actually a problem with my old head unit where the wires are really wadded up against the firewall so this was a very welcome upgrade. This unit comes with a mass of wiring harnesses for all the features it supports and coincidentally that I need (GPS, USB input, Cameras, steering wheel inputs, etc.) My challenge now is transposing this wiring harness to already existing features in my car to limit how much I have to cut out and adapt. I went ahead and opted for another adapter harness for my factory speaker outputs, but it’s all the other bits that I’m taking my time with. I’d like all of this to work out of the box so not really rushing it. If all else fails, I’ll consult a professional installer. This unit is feature packed and the updated GPS maps are extra nice.

Now i am not an electronics wizz but this radio looks as though it will connect to the internet without using a phone etc. It looks like it has every possible wiring connection lead so i should be able to match one or two with the wiring i have on my Honda Goldwing radio. That then just leaves waterproofing, lets see if i am right. Its a good size and not in your face distracting which is safer.
