The camera has a decent build and had good hopes for the Pioneer but just a road of disappointment. The video quality is very very grainy. The rear camera has better quality than the front.
Feature wise it does a pretty decent job at detections in parking lots and the auto turn off, just a shame the video quality is bad

I have not been in many car accidents (knock on wood) over my driving career of 30 plus years, however, there are certain times when I felt I wish I had a front dash camera just in case that unfortunate event would happen to occur. When I saw this pop up in my feed, I decided to pull the trigger on it since I have wanted one for so long.
I had my car mechanic install it for me which was a pretty straight forward set up but it does take someone who knows what they are doing to get this installed correctly since there is also a rear camera that comes with this unit as well that needs to be connected to the front one in order for it to work properly. The picture on the camera itself looks good from what I can see. It is 1080p which is good enough to get a good crystal clear picture of what is in front of you. I now have a safety net in my car for those just in case situations.

Was just involved in a hit and run accident. Here’s my experience now that I had to try and get the video from the camera.
I have a 16gb SD card installed in the unit. The camera appears to only allow 16 videos to be saved and will subsequently erase the oldest video (keep in mind that there will be one video for front facing and one video for rear facing). It is not easy and straightforward on how to try and download the videos.
As you can see from the picture, it prompts you to download and play but would not do that. By the time I figured how to download the video (hold down the reel you’d like and hit download), it had erased the one that I would have needed.
Pioneer, you can do better.

Awesome Dash cam from Pioneer! I’ve been wanting to get one for awhile now, so why not get it from one of the best brands. For starters, the installation is not easy for just anybody to do, so you may need help from a professional. Luckily, my husband is very experienced in this and was able to install it for me in my car. Once it was all set up I was able to test it out. I’m actually very impressed with it, the picture quality is clear and vivid, it records everything day and night. I feel so much better having this cam, especially with people’s car being broke into around our neighborhood lately. This just gives me more peace of mind. It also has built in GPS and WiFi to share my location and speed while myself or someone else is driving my car. The Pioneer app is simple to use on my phone, and I love that it alerts me and records if there is any accidents when my car is parked. Overall I think it’s a great Dash cam and it has worked well for me so far. I’m very satisfied and would recommend it.

Once you get past the price and refrain from comparing this to the $50, no name cameras, you’ll be thrilled with your purchase. I’ve had countless dash cameras, Some junk some OK, but this one is miles ahead of even the best I’ve had. Yes it’s on the large side and yes it’s a complicated install. But again, once you get past that, you’ll appreciate the quality and feature of this unit. Go ahead, take the plunge. Buy once, Cry once.
