Quick Review:
General Thoughts:
– Really fast and responsive headunit.
– Wireless carplay is such a luxury that you don’t really know you start to depend on until you have it.
– Included reverse camera is a nice complimentary addition.
– Great value for money, especially if you have a broken OEM navigation screen cursed with the common mapping error, or if you have the base model radio and just want to upgrade to bluetooth audio.
– Compatible with the OEM JBL sound system and can fine tune it with the preinstalled equalizer on the radio.
General Complaints:
– The customizable boot logo only shows once the radio has been completely turned off and turned back on, rather than when the radio awakes from sleep.
– The radio does take around 20 seconds to start up after completely turned off, however, the radio is only completely turned off when the vehicle has been off for several hours. Otherwise, it is in sleep mode.
– I wish there were more customizations available on the main home screen, it doesn’t seem like you can change the large app icons for other ones.
– Is not compatible with original OEM backup camera, but provides one that is compatible.
– If you have the highlander hybrid model, you’ll lose the infographic of the hybrid energy monitor screen, but you should still be able to see the smaller version of that screen through the small MFD screen above.
Overall, I believe the radio is a worthwhile investment, regardless of the trim level of your car. It is pretty plug and play, except for a few wires if you have the JBL sound system. All of the complaints that I acknowledged either have workaround solutions, or could be fixed with a possible software update, if the seller were to take this constructive feedback seriously.
Extensive review:
Installation:
I’ve bought and installed aftermarket head units for previous vehicles I’ve owned, including some for Audi, Toyota, and Subaru, however, this one seemed like one of the ones on the simpler side to install. HOWEVER if you have upgraded JBL sound system you NEED to BUY a special harness that can control the JBL sound system, the product’s ASIN is B0B14Y8W1K (search on Dashcamera.us.com search bar to find). If you need further reassurance/instruction, you can contact the seller for support. They helped me with any questions I had throughout the installation process. You will also need to reuse the plastic clips from the original radio you had when installing the new headunit. You must also retain and connect the caution/hazard lights button from your original radio when installing the new unit, or else there will be an airbag error that pops up on your small MFD screen.
Quality:
– The headunit is built sturdily. There are is no squeaking when pushed upon. The colors match the original trim well. The knobs feel quality, near to the original OEM navigation knobs and are about the same size.
– The screen itself is glossy. It would be nice if they included a matte screen protector that would help with the glare coming from it on sunny days. I do wish it could be a tad brighter, but that is also due to the glare on sunny days.
Features:
– Screen automatically dims and the physical buttons illuminate the same green color as all OEM buttons do when the car’s headlights are turned on.
– Buttons on the steering wheel still work and can be remapped according to your desire.
– Bluetooth connection is strong. I did not have any issues with connectivity throughout the entirety of testing. You must connect the headunit to your phone via bluetooth in order to use wireless carplay.
– Automatic Apple Carplay is a lifesaver. The CarPlay app automatically opens and connects to your phone within 5-10 seconds whenever the car is turned on.
– Backup camera video feed automatically takes over the screen whenever the car is put into reverse. You can also adjust the amount that the volume of music is decreased when the car is put into reverse so you can better concentrate on your surroundings.
– Comes preinstalled with some apps, but you can also download more through google playstore once you connect to a network. (including apps for entertainment such as Netflix or Youtube)
– Equalizer enables you to fine tune your speakers, regardless of having the upgraded OEM JBL sound system or not.
Customer Support:
The customer support from Sizxnav was great. I initially inquired about the compatibility and they responded within 20 minutes explaining a separate cable harness was needed for the JBL sound system in my car. I had multiple questions throughout the installation process and even after installing and using it for about a week, to which they always responded in a timely manner. I do believe they’re in a different time zone, as my inquiries during the day would always be responded to after 6pm CST. They sent me written instructions and even picture and video guides whenever I was confused about some of the wiring or app functions. I was also given the boot logo file for the Toyota logo, and it matches perfectly to the boot logo of the OEM one.

I really love how this stereo looks and feels like it was an OEM system. I’ve been using it for a few months now and I am very impressed and pleased how well Apple CarPlay works with it. Most of all; this system came with clear and simple instructions on how to install it. Watching a YouTube tutorial on how to remove the front panels did help too. My only issue with it is that I couldn’t use my hazard lights with the cable provided. When I did; a warning message popped up on my info screen stating that my airbags weren’t working properly. I did contact the seller and they instructed me on how to splice my original hazard button to their wiring harness. This was my only issue with this system; if it weren’t for that one issue, I’d definitely had given it five stars.

I purchased this head unit specifically for Android 11 and Bluetooth compatibility with my phone. I have to say I’m very pleased with the upgrade and new features. I never used the original nav system or CD player so replacing them with a modern head unit that I can use has been very nice.
This head unit runs smoothly from screen to screen and integrates navigation, messages, and music on the same screen for ease of access. All of these applications can be used separately on the full screen as well. You can access your phone apps from the head unit and use voice to text to search for locations and respond to messages hands free.
There’s a fairly wide range of settings to play with allowing the user to choose a number of different themes, connect to email and wifi, and tweak your sound/equalizer settings to your liking.
I think the unit looks nice and fits right in with the dashboard. The touch screen works well so far, feels smooth and is responsive. The buttons work well overall. My home button sticks slightly from time to time but there are buttons on the screen that can be utilized for the same purpose.
I chose not to install the new backup camera the sits on top of the license plate.
Overall, if you are looking for a stereo upgrade for your highlander and you are able to install it, this is worth the price.

What a process. Over 2 months and I still have an airbag light. 4 trips to the installer and at least they got the buttons to work. My issue with the product is the lack of ease of install and the seller for poor communication, it’s like we just repeat ourselves and get short versus trying to accommodate. Likely going to be returning and disputing this item as I refuse to drive around with an airbag light. $300 to install was a waste of money. Save yourself the aggravation and keep your current setup or choose a quality product and seller. Nice for the features and functionality it has but not when it’s not working the way it’s intended. It’s like having a really good map of Europe driving in the US. Nice but useless.
